Extended Studies

In Summer 2021, prospective students began applying to Extended Studies programs and the Institute of Applied Agriculture (IAA) using a newly developed application supported by Salesforce. Staff also began reviewing and providing decisions on program applications in the new system.

The goal of the initiative is to leverage one system—TerpEngage— for the Extended Studies program enrollment process for current and prospective students. Students can complete and submit their applications and receive decision notifications from the university faster in a single platform. 

University staff and faculty can reduce time on triage and reviews, create administrative notes in the system, and communicate with students in a single environment. In addition to this, the system connects with the current advising communications tool, which allows faculty and staff to support students throughout their engagement with UMD.
