Custom Application Planning

TerpEngage application customization project requests often need a completion schedule outside of our Quarterly Project Planning model. For these requests, the TerpEngage team has established two scheduling options: the most common timeline and a customized timeline.

The Most Common Timeline Approach

Several stakeholders with application customization project requests will find this approach to be the best fit. For such project requests, the TerpEngage team will reach out to stakeholders in the spring to confirm any changes for the upcoming application season. During the summer, in July, the TerpEngage team will begin work on the requested changes while providing stakeholders opportunities to review them and provide feedback. Finally, in the latter part of summer, or by August, the completed changes will be moved into the production environment in preparation for the upcoming academic year.

The Customized Timeline Approach

Stakeholders with application customization requests outside the scope of the Quarterly Planning Process or "The Most Common Timeline Approach" will likely need a customized timeline. In this approach, the TerpEngage team will coordinate with stakeholders on their requests in advance of the application portal's planned use ("go-live"). Typically, the team will contact stakeholders about six months (or two quarters) prior to their scheduled portal use.  For projects that include residency requirements, changes would be identified during the first quarter to be implemented during the second quarter.
