How to Request Access to TerpEngage (Staff/Faculty)
Note: These instructions are for Staff/Faculty access. Students should log in HERE.
To request first-time access to TerpEngage, please complete this form using the information below:
-
Fill in all of your personal information under the “User Information” heading, making sure to use your campus (@umd.edu) email address. Undergraduate employees may use their @terpmail.umd.edu accounts or a unit-sponsored @umd address.
-
You do not need to fill in any information under the “For Mainframe Access Only” heading.
-
Click the TerpEngage - Advising checkbox found in the gray “Access Request” box to request access to TerpEngage Advising. You may request access to other systems by checking their corresponding checkboxes.
-
Indicate the type of access you are requesting in the boxes provided. Note that student employees, by default, do not have access to Advising Notes. If the requesting department requires this access, be sure that the student employee checks the box labeled Request access to Advising Notes.
-
If you intend to schedule student appointments through TerpEngage, it is recommended that you also select the Request Calendar Sync checkbox as that will help avoid scheduling conflicts.
-
Select your Advising Unit Code from the Select Unit drop-down menu. This advising unit serves to identify groups of advisors who work with specific populations of students, but it doesn’t necessarily mirror your UMD-designated department. Consult your unit head if you have questions about which Unit Code you should use.
-
Check the verification checkbox and type your signature at the bottom of the form once you have read and acknowledged the Statements of Understanding and FERPA Policy Information. Please note that new users must successfully complete the FERPA tutorial before access will be approved.
-
Click Submit at the bottom of the form once it is complete.
-
The document will automatically move through a series of approvals, including designated college-level approvers, PHR appointment verification, FERPA verification, Registrar approvals, and finally TerpEngage. The request will be returned to the requestor if any part is not approved.
How to Navigate to TerpEngage
Once access has been granted, individuals can access TerpEngage Advising through the login portals found in the top-right corner of the screen. Advisors should use (and bookmark!) the Login for UMD Staff/Faculty button which directs you to UMD’s Single-Sign-On. You may embed the link from the Login for UMD Students button on your website, in emails, or wherever students need to see it.
