Advising Notes

An Advising Note is a descriptive summary of what occurred during a meeting or interaction between an advisor and an advisee in relation to their academic success at the university. Advising Notes are written by advisors to represent the student’s historical advising record, which enables another person to continue providing advising or take over a student’s Advising Case. Notes should not include:

  1. Information a student would not be expected to view.

  2. Highly sensitive information.

Status of Notes from Old Systems

  • All new Advising Notes should be created in TerpEngage.

  • All notes found on Advise on the Web (AoW) were migrated into TerpEngage on September 19th, 2020 and the ability to create a new note in AoW was disabled on that date. Previously saved notes in AoW can still be viewed.

  • u.Achieve "audit notes" under "Exceptions" will still be fully functional. The "Comments" section in u.Achieve should not be used for new Advising Notes, though previously saved notes can still be viewed there.
