Appointment Availability allows you to designate blocks of time for when you are available to meet with advisees. It will generate potential appointment slots during the blocks of time, which your advisees can then schedule through the Student Portal.
It is suggested that advisors set up Appointment Availability because:

Appointment slots are generated for you, which allows for more automation in scheduling.

Students will not be able to make appointments with you outside of the Availability you have set up.

Utilizing TerpEngage Calendar Sync with Availability means that any event in your UMD Google Calendar that overlaps with an Availability will automatically be blocked off as a time when students are unable to meet with you.

It allows for Drop-In Advising in TerpEngage. (During the pandemic, it is recommended that advisors refrain from using Drop-In Availability because it does not direct students to a web meeting URL.)
